Some Great Teeth Whitening Home Remedies by Timothy Croy

Teeth whitening is a great way to get those shiny bright whites you've always dreamed of. However, getting them professionally done can be spendy, and sometimes does not always yield desired results. Home kits can also cost a pretty penny, and trying different ones can be a serious damper on your wallet. Here are some teeth whitening home remedies that may or may not work for you. Most of them are free to try and require only the most simplest of ingredients.

Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide

A simple mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda on your toothbrush is a great simple home remedy for teeth whitening. You'll notice that the main ingredients in expensive home teeth whitening kits is usually a stronger form of hydrogen peroxide. Baking soda is well known for it's positive results with teeth, as many top toothpaste manufacturers include it in their list of ingredients. You can also try using baking soda or hydrogen peroxide on their own and should see results within a couple of days. Note: make sure you don't swallow the baking soda or peroxide, as they can be severly toxic to your body.

Fruit - Orange Peels, Lemons, or Strawberrys

Another teeth whitening home remedy that has worked for many is by using fruit. Fruit contains many positive anti-oxidants and safe natural bleaching chemicals that can aid in the teeth whitening process. Rubbing your teeth with orange peels or swooshing natural lime or lemon juice in your mouth can help whiten your teeth. You can also add a strawberry mixture to your baking soda/peroxide mixture to not only add a sweet taste to your concotion, but another effective whitener. Important note: After using fruit to whiten your teeth, immediately brush your teeth with a commercial grade paste, as fruit does contain sugar, and lemon juice is very acidic and can hurt your teeth in the long run if not used properly.

Gold Ole' Table Salt

Table salt has been a very effective and natural teeth whitener for many centuries. Before the invention of toothpaste, people used salt and water to clean their teeth. Although salt by itself will not keep you from cavities and other dental problems, it has a very positive effect on the teeth. Using salt, mixed with any of the home remedies mentioned above can add yet another avenue of teeth whitening that is not only cheap, but very effective.
